God kids visit day 1&2

Sunday it was raining. My wife pointed out that the rain seems to bring out colorful cars in our apartment complex.

It also brought our Godkids and family to visit.

They too have been invaded by Pokecreatures…

Louie the wonder dog does seem to keep them at bay.

Once their parents had set off back home, I took the kids on a walk to the center of town to recharge our pokeballs.
On the way we saw real creatures like the groundhog along the bottom of this porch.

There are at least 7 pokestops and 4 gyms in a fairly small space at the center of town. Over the 2 mile walk there was a lot of talk of if it was worth it.

The answer seemed to be yes.
One of the gyms there is guarded by the most powerful Poke I’ve seen…

We did not try and dislodge it.
After wandering around for about 3 miles, we called my wife who got my car and came and gave us a ride back home.

We went to have dinner at a Chinese restaurant devoid of any Pokestuff…

So, we went home and played old card games.

Then it was "inflate the bed" time!

This morning we got up early and set off my 7. Going to Cape Cod in the summer is always a problem for traffic. But, today it was more of a problem going the other way.

We had almost zero traffic and got to the cape in record time.

Which meant we were more than an hour early for the museums opening.

So, we had breakfast for a bit.

And, walked around to parks and such for a bit.

Watched draw bridges go up and down a bit…

The boat behind Ben is the "Lady Maryland" out of Baltimore. I guess it is following them around.

Then, off to the museum that was NEPO.

She’s tall…

This is actually the shell of a deep sea sub that could go 2miles/3km down.

It was part of the finding the sunk Titanic. They had a lot about that.

Then, we walked over to the aquarium.

Turned out it was closed on Mondays. Sad. We were told they were going to feed the seals anyhow.

Some waiting resulted in no seal feeding.

(Actually a woman with a bucket came out, saw folks waiting and went back inside…)
So, we pondered Martha’s Vineyard Island, only a short boat ride away.

I got us tickets to go out and back and we set off.

My wife liked this fishing boat.

Soon (an hour later) we were coming into port at Oak Bluffs.

You know the scene in Jaws where all the tourists pour off of the boat and march into the island town. It was filmed here…

Along one of the streets was an ice cream shop that featured an ice cream maker I worked on almost 3 decades before.

It was the version from before I redesigned it. We didn’t eat there.
We found a nice harbor side place.

If their parents are reading this, vegetables were consumed.

We didn’t see the president, who has been known to eat there while on vacation. But, Ben did take his photo with the photo of the president eating there.

Then, we walked about some more.

Not saying to catch Pokemon. But, it happened…
The ferry made another round trip without us.

There was much discussion of the posted rule saying "don’t climb out on the rock jetties by the harbor" and how much it was obeyed.

We waited by the shore and watched. It was a VERY nice day. But windy with strong waves.

One boat seemed to be heading out with things to tow for folks to ride. It got to the harbor entrance, saw the big waves and made a U turn.

It really was perfect weather.

We got some non-dairy frozen desert from a different place and ate it by the park.

As we waited for our ship to come in we realized the dock was a Pokestation with a lure on it. So, we moved over there to wait.

Our ship came in. With unexpected passengers.

But, we still got on for the trip home.

We found a seat with a plug to charge phones.

As we set off, some folks napped.

Who knows what was dreamed. Ships, fish, return trips?

Or, something more strange?

It was a bit more crowded getting off the cape, but not bad at all.

We picked up some stuff for dinner on the way home, played some more card games and now, off to sleep.
Good times. Ready for sleep now…

Date: 2016-08-03 10:45 am (UTC)I don't think I would be able to relax on a boat ride. I would probably be worrying about kraken too much. I'm glad you didn't encounter one!
