fbhjr: (Perfect show)

We bought the tickets for the Revels Harbor cruise a couple of weeks ago.

It’s been a couple of years since we went, and now I work farther from home. So, I was worried about getting there in time. Especially as the traffic around Boston was being normal. (Bad.)

We managed to get to Boston just as the boarding was supposed to start.

It was a short walk from parking to the dock. Not through Mad Max world, even if it might look it.

But, the harbor was right around the corner.

Our boat was there and boarding started just as we walked up.

There were a lot of boats docked there. All leaving at about the same time.

I did not mind sitting and watching the harbor area while we waited.

There is a lot going on at the waterfront…

Soon, we were on our way.

The weather on the water was perfect. Warm, but not hot. A light breeze, but not a real wind.

It is a singing cruise. They don’t sing at you. You are expected to sing with them. Since I’ve been a fan of sea shanties since 3rd grade, this isn’t a problem for me.

We did almost collide with a booze cruise as it backed out very quickly from another dock.

But, soon we were clear and moving off into the harbor.

I’m not saying I played Pokemon while singing and being on the boat. But, I saw this. Didn’t capture it. Sad.

It was a good night to be out on the harbor.

Castle "Island" is a place I used to go as a kid for picnics.

It used to be an island, but now they have filled in all the land between it and the city.

We sailed out to Spectacle Island: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectacle_Island_(Massachusetts)

For those of you who complain I don’t have happy photos of my wife:

Some boats were in more of a hurry than ours.

I’ve never stopped at Spectacle Island. Maybe it is because I remember when it was used as a dump…

I remember going under this bridge when it was up when my wife and I went out to a different island a few years ago.

It was a nice sunset.

This is certainly not me playing Pokemon on my phone…

I couldn’t, right? I was busy watching the sunset…

And, watching planes land…

It was fun to have the sun going down on one side and the moon coming up on the other.

Did I mention it was a nice sunset?

I often try and take photos of the moon. This came out pretty well.

But, then it was time to head back to the city.

The sun did go down when we were still a good ways away.

But, it was still nice to look a.

You could see a good amount of the Boston skyline.

Including the amount on the original peninsula…

That booze cruise wasn’t far from where we had left it…

It is a good omen to be welcomed back to your home city by giant cloud birds, right?

Either way, I’m always happy to sail back into town. 386 years since my family first did…

Maybe it is just because they use this shot in Arrow?

We docked without problem and made our way ashore.

We only floated around the harbor, so we didn’t need to stop at the custom’s tower.

It was a very good time. We’ve been going on these outings for almost 20 years and this was one of the best ones we’ve had. So, I’m glad we went!
