We got the car at the airport and set off. There are a couple of castles near the airport, so I had hoped we could go to them first.
I plugged them into my iPad and we set off.

Soon we were going down roads that said they led to castles. Folks ask "was it a problem to drive on the left?"
No. Many times there wasn’t a left or right to deal with. Can’t stay to the left when the road is only 1 car wide…

The first castle had a sign saying "by appointment only".
The second we couldn’t find. It’s supposed to be a ruin out in a field. We found fields. We found sheep. We found a very soggy pony that clearly wondered why we were there.
But, no castle.

So, we went into Cardiff.

We are big fans of the Torchwood show. My wife really wanted to see where it was set.

Since we were there I took out my Tardis key my sister gave me in the 70’s to see if there was a hidden Tardis around. If so, I didn’t find it.

We also looked for the secret stone that would let you into the Torchwood headquarters.

Or the side entrance they use.

We didn’t find either.
But, black helicopters did start flying over.

Cardiff Bay is very nice.

And, very close to there is the Doctor Who museum.

I had pre-bought tickets. But, we got there early. So, looked around a bit.

My wife always like the way Time Lord’s dressed.

I don’t normally associate dumping bodies with Doctor Who.

Torchwood… Well, that’s another story.

They were nice enough to let us go through with the tour in before our scheduled time.
That was nice of them.

You can’t take photos in the "exhibit" part, but you can in the museum part.
They have completely redone with exhibit since I was there a year and a half ago. It has the new Doctor and a totally different story line, different sets (well, mostly) and a more interaction.
But, it is targeted at kids. There were a couple of kids, but most were adults.

After the exhibit there was the museum.

It’s nice to finally be on the inside of a Tardis… Or, Tardises…

My wife got to see Captain Jack. OK, not in the form she usually likes.

She did see the costume of the one she likes…

That’s a lot of Cyberheads.

The first episode of Doctor Who I saw involved this Robot…

The new Daleks are much bigger than the old ones.

And, they have a shop!

Once we finished there, we walked around Cardiff Bay some more.
It really is a very pretty place.

Especially around sunset.

We found a pub to have dinner.

They had instructions for how to order for those of us from the US who don’t know.

Food was good.

From what I could make out of the signs on the wall, Daleks provide free Wifi…

On the way back to the hotel we noticed that Santa seems to wield a green lightsaber these days…

We got back to the hotel and fell asleep about 6PM. We slept right through the night without problem.

There are a number of roads around here which are not only one vehicle wide, but have moss growing in the middle, and fifteen foot ditches either side. They make nocturnal travel perilous, especially at pace.

Yes, we drove quite a few country roads that were only a lane wide. Makes for interesting times when you meet a car coming the other way!

I never actually made it to Cardiff. It does look pretty, especially at sunset.

I'm afraid there is a bit of a time limit. They are only leasing the place until 2017. Who knows what will happen after that.
I never got to the Star Trek one in Las Vegas because I didn't know there was a time limit...

There has to be some up side to Daleks, right?
The Doctor has speculated about that for many years.
Now we know. Wifi.
