All week it has been cloud. There has been some sun, but clouds are never far away.

Wednesday the police were blocking one of the buildings in my complex. But, not mine so I went to work.

That afternoon was my company picnic. If I had known about a place with bumper boats, I would have gone there with the kids last week.

Today I my wife and I were getting things together for tomorrow’s luau and fire show.
I am making my egg roll things. This involves grinding the ingredients together.
Sadly, my grinder was missing the little blade thing that actually makes things get chopped up.
Much searching did not find it.

My grinder is an old cast iron one from the previous millennium. So, the odds of finding a replacement part are slim.

I found one for another grinder.

But, I didn’t find the grinder that one went with and it wouldn’t fit the older grinder.

So, I set off for the Bed, Bath and Beyond near home.
While looking through the kitchen gadgets and pondering electric wine openers, I did not find what I was after.

What is electric wine anyhow? And, why do you need a special opener?

Anyhow, the soda stream sales man had a table of different sodas in front of him and no one showing interest. Assuming the fat guy (me) would want free samples he aggressively pursed me trying his cucumber soda.
OK, it wasn’t bad. I told him that, and that I would not buy his soda machine.
He still flagged down a manager for me and got him to show me the meat grinders.
They only had electric ones. Man was not meant to grind meat with electricity.
But, as it was the only choice, I bought it.

Going to the supermarket for other items I was displeased to see the Halloween things out on display in August.

While pondering what my credit card will think of a meat grinder, lighter fluid and disposable service pans, I returned home.

I found the electric part fit my old grinder.

But, it didn’t have enough grip to work with it. So, I ended up using the electric one.

I got my egg rolls made.

Wow, we always just minced the meat by hand, using knives, if we couldn't buy meat that was already minced. And haha, those are funky shapes for egg rolls.

My experience with it is in the US Chinese restaurants as an appetizer.

I have never had anything like it in China.

Interesting
I don't think we have them here

I mean we have spring rolls but that's a thin pastry casing

Thai ones are fried
Vietnamese ones aren't

And then we have these fast food places in shopping centres and it's filling in a thin omlette

I have not seen those bing boys here. But, maybe they will reach here eventually.

Egg rolls are similar to spring rolls, but the wrapper is different. Thicker. Not as smooth.

It is only enough not to have one I can find.
Cast iron base. White enamel bottom with tin plated grinding area.

I actually have two Soda Streams, but wish I had none. I ordered one from Amazon, and it "never" arrived so they sent me out a replacement. A couple weeks later, the original finally showed up.

It was a waste from the start. The sodas it made never tasted good/right, plus now I can't drink soda at all, so... it's collecting dust. The other one is still in the original package, I keep thinking maybe I can give it to someone. I should probably just donate it so I can be rid of it.

I remember your posts about it. That was one of the reasons I told the guy I wouldn't buy it.

I'm glad I was able to help save you money/keep you from having something around gathering dust!

electric wine openers are fun to play with. and when they run out of charge, then you have to break out the regular old fashioned cork puller anyway. (my uncle had one and i got to play with it last thanksgiving).
