Today we went over to [livejournal.com profile] pallid_regina & Lance's house. As housekeeping chased us out of the hotel before they were ready for a visit, we went to the Waffle House that is between here and there.
We later learned that this was the "bad" Waffle House.

When we got there we did not get the normal "Howdy! Sit where you want!" that we get at most Waffle Houses we've been in from Maryland to Alabama. We got stared at.
But, we're used to that.
We sat at an empty table.
It took a considerable amount of time for anyone to come wait on us, but we're stubborn and didn't go away. So, finally one of the folks did wait on us.
Over in the corner was an older man clearly dressed as a farmer. He had two different folks waiting on him and everyone who walked past his table nodded towards him and got a greeting in reply.
When one of the women waiting on him came to his table he jumped up with his arms raised and shouted "Bwaaaaaaa!" at her.
She stepped back fairly casually, poured him some coffee and walked off again.
While we ate, three other groups came in, looked around, saw only a table near this guy, and turned and left again.
It was quite strange.
But, we ate, we paid, we left just before the guy behind my wife started smoking.

Then, up to Eminence.
We spent the whole day at [livejournal.com profile] pallid_regina & Lance's house.
It was a very nice visit. We hadn't seen them in quite some time and there was a lot of catching up to do from both sides.
They made us a very nice dinner with a fantastic desert.
Their dogs and cat all came to visit us as we were there and we had fun with them as well.

At one point Lance pushed his finger down on the table and then sniffed it. This caused a bad look across his face.
He had been told by an exterminator that the ants in their house were the kind that made bad smells when squished and he was testing this. He says it is quite true.
I tried an ant later in the evening, totally giving in to peer pressure to squish and sniff an ant. But, mine was a dud. Probably for the best.

On the way back to our hotel we saw some ambulances get lost. They were coming up behind us and we pulled over to let them go past.
Then they started going really slow and finally just stopped in the middle of the road. A third came zipping up and almost plowed into the back of the rear one. Then, they all made U turns and went back the way they came.
We passed three others coming the other way as we continued south.
Not sure what was up with all of that. But, I'm glad I wasn't the one waiting for an ambulance.

Other than the bad Waffle House and weird emergency vehicles, it was a very nice day and a great visit with our friends.
