Dress rehearsal

It was fairly cold today and there was plenty of snow left over from yesterday.

The local wildlife is having problems with it.

OK, that’s a plastic deer.
But, the lions are certainly having trouble.

And, this is 40 minutes south of where we live and normally warmer with less snow…
So, this was certainly a day for the jet engine heater.

But, when I tried to use it to melt some water to drink all it did was boil one small spot that burst out of the bottle and leave the rest frozen.

As we’re running out of time before the big show, today was our dress rehearsal.

My wife wasn’t feeling well, but still took up the sword.

She’s like that.
But, she did accept help in getting her costuming on.

So, there was lots of fighting in costume.

The end/pommel came off her sword.

We did find it. But, the tang piece that held it on had broken off. So, it couldn’t be fixed.

I’m going to work on getting it fixed. But, it is made by the people who took 7 months to get us the small swords. So, I’m not sure how long it will take to fix.
But, fights resumed.

The new guy and I are fighting over the sin of gluttony. So, it ends with my chewing his arm.

But, I get mine.

We did start showing the new guy how to set himself on fire.

Not much results yet, but you have to start somewhere.

So, it went well enough. Hopefully all will go well at the show.

Date: 2014-02-17 02:10 am (UTC)Most folks will not be in costume next week. There are a few things still being worked out, but things went pretty well today.

Date: 2014-02-18 04:08 pm (UTC)Wish that I had ended up with one of the welders from my previous big project - could fix up the pommel/tang on the sword, at least to restore functionality - but alas, they did not give me what they had promised..sigh.

Date: 2014-02-20 01:25 pm (UTC)If it stays below freezing the sun will slowly burn it away, but it will take a couple of weeks.
If it gets above freezing then the main parts of it will melt away, but the places where it is piled up will last longer.
If it rains, the whole thing melts faster.
It did rain a bit yesterday, but only enough to pack it down.
Those big piles of snow are probably going to be here at least a month into spring...
