Books, books, books

As I’ve talked about in previous years, my favorite part of doing the symposium at the UMass Ren Center is when they let us go into the basement and look at the books.

I have to admit, I envy this climate controlled, book filled, basement.

It is always the rare book row that gets the most attention.

Jeff the curator always seems happy to show off his oldest book, the largest book and the most recent additions.

And, the largest is pretty large.

He had one that was interesting due to the rat damage. The rats ate the paper, but hated the ink. So, they ate around the edges and not where the ink was. (Sorry, didn’t photo well.)

Jeff did shows us one book I thought was very interesting.

I guess it was labeled as a book on herbs, but had a lot more in it.

This one I found very interesting.

Back in the 1600’s it had ideas for cars. Granted, wind powered, but still.

I was not the only one who liked it two other Phoenix folks spend a lot of time down there as well.

I do like sword fighting. I like talking about it. I like listening to people talk about research into it.
But, I look forward to being able to see those books...
