Some days it almost works

Last night my precog was almost useful!

I got home from work and said “I must back up my computer.”
I didn’t know why.  I just felt compelled to do it.
(I try and do it once a week anyhow.  But, it’s usually more like once a
month.)

So, I went to my laptop and started it backing up.

While I did that, I noticed that the desktop computer needed to have its
iTunes and Safari updated.  So, I clicked “update” and went off and watched
TV.

When I checked later, my laptop was backed up.
The desktop next to it had failed.

That was almost some useful precognition!
I almost saved the right computer!
I seemed to know something was going bad and data needed saving.  I just
got the wrong machine.

While this is vastly more useful than my normal level that tops out at
being able to predict TV reruns, it still isn’t up to the level where it
would be really useful.

When I can predict the next card flipped or what a die roll will be, then
we’re going to the casino!

I do love your outlook on how things work. Lemme know how the casino run goes!

Are you able to fix the computer?

Sure.
All I need is a new hard drive and to reinstall everything.
Not a happy thing, but I've had worse.

where you will likely be playing the machine next to the machine that's paying off? ;)

seriously, machine going down stinks; hope you get everything off it that you need.

At least you have backups! Silver linings, cling to them!

Be careful - I've had similar sorts of things happen before, and I *swear* that one computer caught a hardware failure problem from the one it was next too. This is why I keep my genuine New Orleans Voodoo doll on my desk next to whichever computer is the most critical to me at the time, to scare away any bad juju or computer gremlins.

So far, its working pretty well - the computer that seems to be having problems now (the one I am using now) is the one that is furthest away from Dr Juju!
