I’m surprised I can’t stick my sword there…

Last night I was working on the plane tickets to Wales for the class on
making a bronze sword in April.
I got all of the way to the purchasing point and was about to click “buy”
when it popped up with a message block saying “please confirm you have read
our new hazardous material prohibitions”.

So, I clicked on the file and there it was:
“Axes, swords & knifes not allowed in carry on OR checked in luggage.”

When did that happen?
I’ve flown with my swords plenty of times, granted, always in checked
luggage. We had one troupe member who went to great lengths to demonstrate
why you shouldn’t mess around with the inspectors at the airport. But, the
swords still got on the plane.

I’m going to have to figure this one out. The whole point is to get the
sword. I don’t want to make it and then not be able to have it.

Ship it home via mail?

Domestically I don't think it's a big deal via FAA reg's to have a sword in the bottom of the plane

but International, and if I remember, UK specifically, no nothing sharp and sword like.

Stupid but….Well, don't need to go there.

Check with the place doing the lessons, perhaps they have encountered this problem with
students coming in from outside the country, or may have a shipping option already set up?

Send it home by mail? May be a bit expensive, though.

Could you ship it back?

Having looked round,it may be you can get a permit to ship it.You'd have to check out the exact detail as it varies from airline to airline and state to state.

What - are they afraid that the dwarves living in the luggage compartment will get to it and start a war?

I guess have it packed up and shipped back. Ridiculous really, but what you gonna do? MAybe you could purchase a lockable airline approved firearms cse to put it in, but you'll definitely have to pay extra for it going over and coming back, plus the british will raise alot of questions over what is in it... easier to have it shipped back, I guess.
