Longest I’ve lived anywhere by several years

Today marks 20 years that my wife and I have rented the apartment in which
we live.
We didn’t actually stay there until the 3rd. And, we didn’t even start
moving furniture in until the 4th. But, the 1st was when our name went on
the mailbox and we were given the keys.

When we first moved there it had lots of empty space. That is no longer a
problem.

It is the longest I have ever lived in one place.
I lived with my parents for about 17 ¾ years. I lived in college housing
for 2 years. I lived in an apartment off campus for about 8 years. And, I
lived in New Hampshire for 2 ½ years.
Finally this apartment for 20. (That should add up to about 50 years as I
turn 50 in 39 days.)

Part of me says “that’s too long to live in any one place”. The other part
of me says “it is near everything you want to be near and you don’t have to
mow the lawn, rake the leaves or fix the roof”. Those are, for me,
compelling arguments.

We have certainly lived there longer than any of the other people in the 5
apartments in our building. I don’t think any of them have been there for
a year yet and at least 3 of them swapped out this summer.

We signed the lease for another year. So, at the very least we’ll be there
long enough for our stuff to be drinking age…

20 years? The longest I've ever lived in one house was 12 years and that was the house I grew up in. The longest I've ever lived in the same city is 15 years. I can't imagine living in the same house for 20 .. that's amazing.

WoW..20yrs..

I wonder how many generations of squirrels have come and gone?

Good for you! but then, I'm one who values stability.

We've been here for around 30 years now. We'd planned to be here for 5. But- life happens.
