Twenty years of records

So, tomorrow it is 20 years since I started keeping a journal. Back in 1994 it was not on line. For many years it just lived on my computer as a text document, password protected in case anyone found it on my hard drive.

There was no one particular reason I started it.
I had just bought my first laptop. A Mac Duo230, at time one of the fastest laptops on the market:

4 megs of memory with a 40 meg hard drive. That was cutting edge!

Of course compared to my current work laptops it doesn’t stack up well.

Anyhow, I was working at the telecom place (http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/74401.html ) where I hated my job.
Because he had awful computers there that really couldn’t do what we wanted, I started bringing in my laptop to use for everything other than CAD.
And, I started writing down what was going on in my life.

For various reasons I switched to online in 2007. I still make occasional entries in the old file. But, the vast majority over the last 7 years has been on line.

It’s an interesting record for me to go back and read.
I complain a lot. Even more there than here, I do it here a lot.
Still good to have the record.

Good grief, I feel young now.

Sorry, that wasn't my intent...

No, no it's good ;) I'm only 22, I shouldn't feel old.

I meant to say too, awesome anniversary. You have to admire 20 years of perseverance.

Thank you.
And, if you feel old or young it is fine. I'm in my 50's now and still feel both from time to time. (Although more old than young these days.)

I have always kept some kind of paper journal, but they are all but lost now. Complaining seems to be popular, I do a lot of it too. =)

I used to have a paper one when I was young. But, like all things at my parent's house, they are lost to me. So, I don't count those in the record.

That is sad.

I really like old laptops. They look so cool.

I'm really impressed with your journalling, I'm not very good at that. I want to be though, especially when I start working!

They may look cool, but I'll keep the performance of my current one.

For sure. It's amazing how far technology has come!

you still have your first laptop?

That's a long time to have a journal .. I wish I kept all my old paper diaries but I was always so scared that someone would find them.
