More old photos and random things going on

The answer to yesterday’s question (http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/904810.html ) on the photos with the duck and me guarding the laundry with a sword is:
My wife used to write and illustrate her own fantasy stories. And she often used me as a model to use as a basis of the artwork.
The laundry guard because a gate guard.

I’m sorry that the photo of the painting is so blurry. When I tried to take the photo I propped it up on the couch to avoid reflections. It feel behind and the frame cracked.
So, I took what I could get…

The duck photo turned into a painting of a person picking up a skull on the ground. But, I couldn’t find that particular piece of artwork…

This is my friend Jack again. At the time he introduced me to my wife he was dating this woman who was my wife’s friend.

I showed my father’s burial, so maybe only fair these are from his sister’s funeral.

This is my wife on the grounds of the museum where she used to work.

They had a small gauge train that ran around the property.

And, a small lake in the back.

I’ve avoided putting up photos of people I consider evil. But, here is a photo of the old sword troupe we were in just before we broke off to start Phoenix Swords. There are evil people in this photo…

Comics and Godzilla next to TV remotes… This could come from almost any time in the last 30 years…

My wife and [livejournal.com profile] yebo on a merry go round.

I have no memory of meeting Pinky and the Brain.

(It does look like it may be the same trip where I was damp in front of a fountain as in the photo yesterday…)

The odds favor that some of these feet belong to people I know.

This is me and my wife on a boat ride.

I have no idea where we were going…

(I think it might be from a whale watch in Maine.)

This is me, my friend Al, and our roommate Greg going swimming some time in the mid-80’s.

This is the telecom company I worked at from 1990 to 1995. This is the California office.

I don’t remember the names of the folks in the photo.

This is inside that office.

This is my friend Josh. He and his friend Chris moved out to California to avoid debt. I last saw them on one of these trips I made to the west coast office of the telecom company.

This is the company I worked for after the telecom place. This is the Kansas HQ of the company, or it was when I worked there from 1995-1997. I don’t remember that guy’s name.

The hotel I stayed at there was under the landing pattern of B-1 bombers. It was strange to see them over my hotel…

In downtown Wichita there is a park with very interesting carvings.

This is from the Mobile Alabama show of 2002 held at the zoo. That camel ate his hat.

In other news, summer is progressing as the sun is much lower in the sky when I drive in each morning.

For the impending kid’s visit I bought a remote controlled sphere toy to entertain them.
Of course, I had to test it…

General evil, or specific acts of evil?

[identity profile] ravena-kade.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
The sphere looks fun. Can it go outside? I'd love o run it by some unsuspecting people.

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is supposed to be water resistant and able to go outside.
I've ordered a rubber cover for it so it can be safer outside.

Did the camel eat his entire hat? How rude! Camels concern me, I like to stay far away from them :P

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
No, it chewed it up and spit it out.

Evil people???

[identity profile] endlessblush.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
It looks to me that you took as many photos with a film camera as you do now with your digital camera

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yes and no.
Still lots of photos, but less every day.
I think I'm going to talk about that in a post on its own...

oh dear that camel must've been hungry!!

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think it was more annoyed...

Great photos. I love seeing old photos :)

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
There is a whole tub on them and this is less than 5%.
But, I think I've had enough dust for now and will stop...

I was going to ask if your picture in front of the fountain was at an amusement park. If you met Pinky and the Brain, maybe it was a Six Flags somewhere in your travels.

Holy cow at the sunglasses and the hats. Gotta love the 80's! =)

Thanks again for sharing such lovely and the non-lovely memories. I am sorry there were evil people in your troop, it mars things a bit.

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
The evil people got us to start out own sword troupe, so that worked out well for us.

I'm pretty sure it was a 6 Flags. Great Adventure in NJ to be specific. It is very close to Yebo's home town and we went to visit him one summer and went there. That would put it pre-1985 as once we got out of college he didn't go back there for the summers any more.

Interesting photos, thank for sharing

As for the photo of the remotes on the folding table - It also has spooky disembodies floating hands.
Wonder if that was another model for Malterre's illustrations?

Did your wife ever publish those stories, or did she do them for fun?

The funeral photos have fewer sad people than I would have expected....

What kind of hat did the camel eat?

What exactly does the sphere toy do? I would have thought your godkids are too old to play with it?

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-07-31 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She mostly did them for fun. Some of the art work from the stories was presented and sold at science fiction conventions. But, the stories that inspired them were not published.
She and I used to do a comic book together and that was published on a very small scale. (A few hundred issues.) But, that is something else again.

If funerals are done right, they are a celebration of the person. My aunt was a very inspiring woman and that came through even as we were saying goodbye to her.

The hat was made of cloth and the skin of a coyote. I have no idea why the camel wanted it. But, it did take the hats of many people.

The sphere is remote controlled by smart phones and can do tricks, play games, and interact with virtual objects on the screen of the phone. It is also waterproof and can be used in the lake we are going to visit.
I hope they like playing with it, but who knows?

[identity profile] postingwhore.livejournal.com 2014-08-01 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
The skin of a coyote?! Where could one buy a hat made from that? :O

And that sphere sounds much more interesting now! I'm sure your godkids will have fun with it :)

[identity profile] fbhjr.livejournal.com 2014-08-01 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
He already had the hat when he joined out group, so I don't know where he got it.
Someone might have made it for him...
