Kick it

My company is trying to be more green these days. Although there are a lot
of people who say it’s just lip service to try and look good when we
aren’t, I say at least there is some effort and it’s better than nothing.
More would be better, but anything is more than zero.
As part of this, last year they replaced the bottled water we used to have
with a filter system cleaning the tap water that comes into the building.
I’m OK with that. Bottled water has been shown to be little better than
tap water anyhow, and there are less big bottles, less gas hauling them,
etc. So, good on that one.

But, this week they put a sticker on the water dispenser.

Yeah, it’s someone kicking it.

I understand that they don’t want it tipped over. (The cockroaches that
used to live in it might come out… That’s probably not their reason, but
they weren’t happy with me when I lifted it up last year to show the Chief
Operating Officer what lived there. Someday people will learn not to say
“Oh, you’re exaggerating. How bad could it be?”)

Anyhow, my thought is that there should be a red circle with a slash
through this as well.
Otherwise, this isn’t a “don’t kick the dispenser” sticker so much as a
“please kick it this way” sticker.
And, I don’t understand that.
Why should I be kicking the water supply?
(Maybe it’s a metaphor for humanity’s mistreatment of fresh water?)

I'd be afraid it will encourage people to kick the water dispenser.
But, I already know they don't do what they're asked.
So, it's probably OK, just strange.

I hope your coworkers see the humor intended with the sticker.

Otherwise mail it to me and I can silk-screen a slash-circle ontop of it likitey-split ;D

(I'd like to make a "No Cockroaches" sticker but that'll take longer to have Art Dept. whip up....Whereas I have plenty of slash-circle art laying around)

I am thinking it is someone's joke. But, so far no one has owned up to it.

I am thinking that it is either a joke that they haven't caught onto yet, or else the cockroaches have evolved and run a silkscreen/printing business and don't want anyone to disturb their housing supply/market... ;-)
