Concert
Last night my wife and I went to a harpsichord concert at the college where
she works.
It was very nice of her to take me, as she doesn’t like harpsichord music,
even though I do. (She did get a nice sushi dinner and a couple of
Mai-Tai’s before hand, so it wasn’t a total loss on her part.)
The performer was Mark Kroll, who is very good. This is the second time
we’ve seen him. The first time he was doing duets with a violin. This
time, he was playing by himself.
He was playing selections from the music of Francois Couperin, who (he at
least says) was the best composer for harpsichord music.
It was very “flourishy” music. But, given the time and setting, that was
to be expected.
I did think it covered a good range of music and some of the pieces I
thought were very amusing. The “alarm clock” one the most so.
Anyhow, we had a good time.
