And away it goes

The down side to being a consultant is no one removes the taxes from your paycheck. So, once a quarter you have to do it yourself and send it on in.
And, being self employed you actually pay more taxes as you have to pay your own social security and the employer share as well. I know when I do the end of year ones I can deduct that. But, that's not the same as getting it back.
I don't object to paying taxes. I like the services the government provides.
But, those were big numbers on that check...

It sucks - it definitely seems to be less painful when it get deducted from every paycheck automatically for you - sort of "out of sight, out of mind"..
Writing a decent sized check out to Uncle Sam in the morning myself...

I feel your pain...I have been doing that for all the dance money I make for years.
I always try to remember I am glad to get the work and make the money, but man it sucks writing that check. :-)
