Game night July

I met my wife for lunch yesterday (see noodle man entry). And, in the course of that noticed a few things.

July is late for throwing out your Christmas tree.

If I show where that meat intensive restaurant is, maybe more of you will find it.

In the evening, we went over to [livejournal.com profile] yebo and [livejournal.com profile] zosh’s for dinner and games.

For the first time since Reagan was in office, I played Risk.

To give you an idea of how long it has been [livejournal.com profile] yebo’s board has the hand drawn Falkland islands on it as the Falklands war was going on at the time.

I did OK. I managed to take over the world. I finished marching more than 400 armies into eastern US. It’s nice to come home a winner.

Despite marching all those armies through where we were playing, not everyone seemed to notice.

We played a variation that went much faster, or we’d still be playing now. But, it let us enough time to play Bocce before sunset. The other team there trounced us harder then the Risk had been. (16 to 3)

So, we went back in to play the Klingon version of Risk.

[livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo may not have been impressed, but his brother kicked butt and became emperor.

It was fun playing games I haven’t opened in 20+ years. New ones are good too...

yeah but I was also wiped from being down in CT giving school programs, and having a slight allergic reaction, cranked on benadryl...So I was much less responsive than normal.

I call BS on this excuse. Every single game night you have been to you fade fast =P

yeah, not sure what is causing that.

guess I do a little better with "fast" and "easy pickup games" like Pit.

I know I do start to crash by 10-11PM much of the time anyway.

I didn't think you liked Pit...

yeah, I said I did a little better staying awake with a game like pit, didn't nessesarily say I "liked" it more *wink*

I suspect its more that you tend to go to bed around then and your body is trained to start the shutdown around 8:30-9:00. I cannot remember ever seeing you up that late and not tired.
