The stuff of (bad) dreams

As I know I’ve said several times before, my favorite times growing up were the times my sister was home. It was non-stop adventure while she was home and I her navigator in getting her to the places she wanted to be. Frequently I was rewarded in toys, and the highest level of toy reward was Star Trek toys.

Now, this has made its way into my dreams. There is one dream I often have when I am particularly frustrated by events in my life.
In this dream I am at a toy store where there are fantastic toys, almost always Star Trek toys. But, for differing reasons in the dreams, I can’t have them.
I know that when I have this dream, then something in frustrating me when awake. Something personal, not work related is usually the cause.

Despite my total lack of success at finding a job, I have not been having the dream this year.

But, strangely, I experience it when awake.

At my wife’s request, I’ve started sorting out our comics so we can sell some of them off.
We have a lot of them


That’s just what I went through this morning. It’s well less than half of the ones I’ve got to sort.
So, this morning I went over to the Newbury Comics across the road from where I live to get some comic storage boxes to put them in. (And, hopefully straighten out the bends.)

As I’m sure most of you know, a new Star Trek movie came out this spring. So, the shelves at the front of the store were all full of Star Trek toys.
Good ones. Nice ones. Ones that if I had a job I would have bought without a second thought.

It is very, very strange to experience a reoccurring dream when awake. I really can’t describe the sensation.

Of course, I’ve got the will power of a gnat.
So, I took all the loose change about the house to one of the coin counting machines that gives Amazon gift certificates and ordered myself some Star Trek toys...
Maybe when they get here it will feel less weird...
