Tales from the faire, day 2
It’s a 3 day event, which is fairly rare for us. So, we get to leave the tent up and bug out quickly at the end of the day. That’s fairly nice as the faire ended at 6 and we were driving away by 6:05.
Turns out we are the only group that had problems getting here for this show. The fence the organizers planned to put around the site never arrived, so it’s basically a cloth wall draped between stands around the grounds.
Cloth we can roll under and park our car on the other side of for a quick getaway.
The place is on the side of a hill, so it is do that our haul it all up and over the top of the hill, and we’re too lazy for that. Especially with only 3 folks here for the show.
The day started damp, but cleared up in the early afternoon and got quite sunny and warm. While better than rain, we were very hot and tired by the end of the day.
With so few people, we don’t have anyone to take photos of our show. So, I set up my phone on a tripod to video it so I could get photos off that later.
An hour or so later I was sitting around the tent wondering where I had put my phone.
Yeah, it was still taping the stage.
I hadn’t brought my extra battery packs either. So, hopefully we’ll get some useful stills off of it.
(It’s good no one just ran off with it too, but it was mixed in with the sound equipment, so I don’t think most folks noticed it.)
The crowds were fairly good. The show sold out Saturday and Sunday and I’m told on line ones maxed out for Monday.
And, the folks seem really into it. All of our shows have been standing room only and some folks come back for multiple shows.
We’re set it up so each show features things we didn’t do in the others, so if they come back they may see a lot of the same stuff, but there will be new stuff there too.
My wife and I are trying to get a new sword one going by today. We practiced a bit yesterday before it got very hot and us tired. We’ll see.
But, it would be good to add to the show if we can.
Today we do the show, pack the stuff and drive home. Tomorrow, back to work.
