This (last) week’s practice

I know I normally post photos of practice the same day we have it, but not this week.

First, the allergies have been really bad, so I didn’t sleep well Sunday night, so went to bed early last night without making a post.
Second, we did the dinner for my wife’s two graduating students Sunday night, so we didn’t have much time left after that. (Yes, I didn’t sleep, but was trying, so no posting.)
And, finally practice did not go well. So, I wasn’t overly motivated.

The pollen has been running very high and it is causing me issues.

I spend most of my time in our living room with the air filter blowing right at my face and then only have a bit of a headache. But, it doesn’t take much to tip it into a much bigger one.

I am happy to see seed pods starting to show up as that usually means the pollen will be dropping soon.

It was warm and sunny so we did almost all our practice outdoors.

There is quit a worry that we won’t have much space at the show (the yellow rope on the ground) and we are trying to keep all our fights in that 5x5 meter square, but that’s small for what we do.

The biggest issue is Tom and Casey’s fight where Tom picks him up and throws him. He rolls to take that force and that takes space.

And, Sunday he rolled right into the kid of glass.
Yes, it was also Casey who rolled into the mother of glass and broke her leg with less force than I often have bumping into a chair in my living room. And, this was no harder.
But, they’re made of glass.

So, he was carried off the lawn and off to a urgent care place.
The good news is it is only a sprain. Who knows if he’ll be back on his feet in time for the show less than two weeks away?

But, off we went anyhow as we were meeting two of my wife’s students who are graduating this year at the college where my wife works.

My wife traditionally takes graduating students out for dinner before they graduate. Covid did impact that, but this year it’s back on.
They get to pick the place and picked one I don’t like, but it isn’t about me.
They seemed to have a good time, so that is what it’s about.
