Old Photos
Last month one of my mother’s brothers died. Growing up his kids and I were very close until our parents got into a big fight over money.
Then, we didn’t see each other for decades.
But, we’ve reconnected and she’s been sending me old photos she’s found and scanned.
So, here are a bunch of them.
They have no descriptions or information. So, I’m forced to guess.
I suspect these ones are from my grandmother’s 75’s birthday in 1975. This is because my sister is there and she only came home in August for my grandmother’s birthday (even though she was the child of my father’s first marriage and not related to my mother’s mother) and Christmas. And, I don’t think this is Christmas.
The presence of my mother’s aunt and uncle and a big dinner make me think it is the 75th birthday.

This is a different event, even with many of the same people. Not sure what event this was, but my other uncle’s kids are there, so it must have been a bigger get together.

My cousins and I often at in a different room.

When I spoke of the memories of my uncle who died, I mentioned him taking me on a camping trip with his family. These photos are from that trip where we climbed a mountain not too far from here.

These photos come from my aunt’s cottage down near the coast.

I’m sure lots of photos of my youth exist. If for no other reason than I was just as big on taking photos then as now. I couldn’t afford as many, but I still took them when I could. And, my dad took a lot.
But, not getting along with my mother means I’m cut off from those.
It’s nice to get a glimpse of some of them from my cousin.
