Last week in photos
Last Monday I had an intern starting at work, so I had to go in to explain the robots to them.
I took my wife’s car as it had the most pollen on it.

Not a lot of folks in the office these days.

Not much went on in the middle of the week for me. Yeah, I’ve got 5 dozen photos and only 2 are before Friday. That’s the way the week was.
Friday night we did another on line game night.

Saturday Pokemon Go warned me the weather was bad because it was cloudy.

I disputed this and drove into Worcester anyhow.

You know, Worcester, where folks in Hawaiian shirts are carrying around crosses…

I assume he was going to the protest march downtown. I heard it, but didn’t see it.

Instead I got my haircut.

I also went to the local farm meat market next to their and the Mexican restaurant across the street from there. So, lots of things done in one trip.
The march was still going on downtown so I didn’t try and drive through there.

Turned out Pokemon Go was smarter than I gave it credit for because a big storm moved in fast.

Then, it stopped.

It made me glad I waited to go to the march in my town rather than Worcester…
Instead I went to the supermarket.

This impressed Pokemon Go and I leveled up.

Sunday we had timed tickets to get into the local Botanical garden that had just reopened. https://www.towerhillbg.org
It was so exciting that my mask decided to run off ahead of me.

The good news was I brought 3. (Yes, I prepare to have them blocked by pollen and need to swap.)
So off we went into the garden.

You could see Lonely Mountain in the distance. But, not the dragon.

The rules about being let back in are fairly clear. Stay apart. Wear masks.

But, I was still glad to be there.

The place used to be a farm and the old house is still there.

We decided to follow most of the trail around the properly, but to go to the moss steps, so not the full route.

The buildings aren’t really open, but they let you use the bathrooms.

So, it’s mostly the gardens and the woods.

I never saw this butterfly, but my wife took its photo.

It was a nice walk in the woods, especially after a lot of time indoors.

We did get to the moss steps. Not for people. Maybe for Sidhe?

Then back through the woods to the fields.

I wore green camouflage.

We did go through the gardens a bit more.

Then back to see the mountain and get our car.

Then, pizza…

In the evening they were having a Black Lives Matter march and memorial service. So, off we went.

We got there just as the march was kicking off.

There were a lot of them.

They were marching in a triangle about the center of town. Being old, tired, lazy and worried about catching Covid, we waited for them to get back and looked at the signs for the memorial and listened to folks honking in support as they marched about.

Good painting.

I don’t know if they picked where the plaque recording where slave auctions used to take place as an irony or not.

We weren’t the only folks waiting.

They did come marching back.

They police did just what they should. They blocked traffic for the marchers, made sure everyone got into the town square, then pulled their cars into parking spots, got out and stood at the back of the crowd. They wore normal uniforms and seemed like they were there for the service.

My wife and I think there were about 500 folks there. We stayed at the edge where we could keep distance from other folks as we’re still very worried about Covid.

As the service began, the sun cleared the clouds and lit up the common and the crowd. The whole place glowed. The camera didn’t really catch it.

As the sun went down, and the names of people killed by the police were read we switched to candles.

I’m glad we went, even if I didn’t get as much sleep as I’d have liked last night…
