Fire show with chili
Saturday afternoon, we drove up to Tom’s for our annual party and fire show.

This year was a Chili cooking contest too, so my wife made a lot of chili.
It was a nice fall day and very pretty.

As it had been raining up until that morning, Tom started the fire early to dry things off.

Lots of chili was eaten. My wife didn’t win the contest…Sad.
By the time the moon was out, it was time to start the show.

Eating fire.

Lighting Tom’s head on fire.

He did manage to light my pants of fire when he flicked the fuel away. But, I knew what to do about that and put it out.
Fire dancing.

Fire staff.

My wife’s fire balls.

Then, the fire sword.

Sadly, as Tom and I did the fight, his sword broke at the hilt.

But, Tom continued with the fire breath final bit.

The sword were custom made 11 years ago. Not sure what we’ll do now…

Sorry about the fire sword,

And eleven years is a pretty good run for a sword that you use that often.

But, he did a couple of guest shows with us and was very interested to try and make fire swords.
He made a pair, and one broke on it’s second try. He replaced that one.
The one that didn’t break back in 2007 is the one that broke this weekend.
And, his sword group disbanded less than a year after he made the swords, he moved to another state and stopped both sword fighting and making swords.
So, I don’t think he’ll be able to help us with this one.
As you say, 11 years of shows is doing pretty well. That sword had certainly lived a full life and deserves some rest.
