Well, I bought one

There are things that I wanted when I was young.
Things I thought would be very cool to have. But, they were well out of my price range.

Now that I’m in my fifties and have a good job, they aren’t as difficult to buy as they once were.

And, the other day one of those things I thought would be so cool when I was a kid was suggested to me on line.

I talked about it with my wife. She admitted she had always thought they were cool too.

Now, I know that men my age are prone to buying foolish things to try and recapture their youth.
I’m not sure if that is what’s going on or not.

But, either way, I did buy a Van de Graaff generator.

So, now I can generate my own lightning…

Pretty sure that doesn't fit in any conventional implementation of a midlife crisis, but it does solidly establish you as a nerd. I want one too.
