fbhjr | Driving around New Zealand

Everyone kept telling me "New Zealand is so beautiful! You’ll love it there!"
This was my first daylight view of New Zealand.

I went across the street to get our rental car and found the airport had some Lord of the Rings theme things too.

But, hoping it would get better than the airport we headed off…

As we went away from the city, it did get better.

Eventually it got downright nice.

We tried to go to the "glow worm cavern".
It was very crowded.

Sadly all of the cool caves were sold out. So, this tunnel under the road was the only "cave" we went through.

It was a nice visitor center.

Then, off again across New Zealand.

Then, we got to Hobbiton.

Yeah, I could see Hobbits liking it there.

It too was crowded. But, we had pre-bought our tickets. Yay.

Having a couple of hours, we decided to go over to our hotel for the night. It was only about 20 minutes away.

It is a B&B perched up on a hill near a river. It is a fantastic view.

We had our own little patio you could get to from our room.

It really was fantastic.

OK, yes, it did cost a lot too.
But, it was worth it. For at least one night.

After looking at the view for a while, we headed to hobbiton. But, that’s another story.

Some beautiful views. I have also had friends tell me how beautiful New Zealand is, mind you one of them is from there:)

It's a shame you couldn't get into the glow worm caves. They are really interesting.
