Practice
It was a nice day, but cooler.

Last week we popped the nails on our new pole arms, so I had to repair them.

I won’t lie, they’re ugly now. But, you’d have to cut them apart.
At least the flowers are starting to come up.

Sadly, that means the bugs are coming back too.
We tried to use our bug repelling candles, but didn’t have any lighters.

(Yeah, a group that does fire shows didn’t have lighters. That’s because we keep them all locked up away from the fuel. And, we put them in storage…)
Anyhow, only John showed up for practice, so we practiced with John.

Sadly when I was practicing dagger with him, I got one in the arm.

The good news is that we use blunted daggers. There is no doubt that if we used sharp ones it would have gone in one side of my arm and out the other. As it is, I’ve only got a bruise down to the bone…
But, show must go on and all that, right?

I did teach him a different way to block that won’t push my dagger back into my other arm. I’m sure nothing bad will happen again.

While we were practicing, on the far side of the yard two young ground hogs were chasing each other around.

They were very cute.

Yeah, you do have cute ones there. One of the zoos near Melbourne has a "pet the wombat" thing. We're thinking of putting that on the list of things to do when we visit.

That's a great idea, wombats are awesome. They are great diggers, can run very fast and have hard heads :)
