11th day of Christmas

We’re almost out of this holiday season, and for me I never really seemed
to get the Christmas spirit this year.
Not sure why.
I can’t say it was flying home on Christmas day as we’ve done that for the
last three years.
And, for the last three years we haven’t had a Christmas tree at home, so
it isn’t that. And, [livejournal.com profile] mariness and her brother had a very nice
one, so it isn’t like we didn’t get to see one.

I also didn’t listen to that much Christmas music. Usually I do. This
year I just didn’t. Didn’t particularly avoid it or anything, I just
didn’t seek it out like I usually do.

Most years we make a point to go drive around and look at people’s
Christmas lights. This year we didn’t. Maybe that’s what it takes. Maybe
my Christmas spirit is external and must be absorbed by looking at other
people’s displays of spirit?

More likely it is work. It has been very crazy the last few months and
even as I was spending time with my family in Florida I was getting phone
calls and emails from them. But, I don’t think I would have felt any more
Christmasy knowing there were people who needed some of my help and I
didn’t give it. Especially when it was just answering a few questions or
making a decision.

Maybe it was Seaworld. Although we normally fly home on Christmas day,
before we did it at noon, so it was pretty much get up in the morning, go
to the airport to go home. This year the flight was at 6PM, so we spent
most of the day at Seaworld and then went to the more crowded Orlando
airport. (We did Sanford the previous two years.)

I’m probably wrong to look for external sources anyhow. I just wasn’t in
the mood. That’s a bit sad, but not too big a deal.
I do think maybe I should say “Bah!” less often. If I don’t them “humbug”
might well follow and we all know where that leads.
