i'm sure it will be ok. as you say, you guys just have a lot of Stuff. a declutter will eventually help, and also getting some new storage solutions.
i suppose the bright side of all this is that you have more room to move around in, post-sorting. :)
18 1/2 years??
i also think they owe you some paint and maybe a new fridge!
