The Biodiversity exhibit is where the mass extinctions are species that have died out in the last 100 years were. Now it's at the entrance to the ocean exhibit. The clam is also in the corner of the the same hall.
This is, as it often is, only a fraction of the photos I've taken. But, I like to think it is the better ones.
As to why I like the Met better: It isn't the armor. If I want armor I've got the Higgins much closer with more armor on display. (Maybe not quite as high end, but still lots of it.)
I used to work at a (much, much, much smaller) natural history museum. (What is now called the Ecotarium. Then it was the Worcester Science Center.) Growing up I studied a lot of biology and astronomy. I still do my best to keep up with those things. (Although don't as well as I would like due to other things that take my time.) I did no studying of art. At all.
So, art museums offer me things that are very new and different. Science museums offer me things I'm already interested in and have read a lot about.
Niether one is a bad thing. But given the choice of something new and something familiar that I like a lot, I will often lean towards the new.
