perrin_o_ravnos really should have been there...
We didn’t get home from the show last night until almost midnight.
Then, we stayed up and made cookies for today.
So, we got to sleep about 2:30 or so.
We got up at 8, showered and headed off to Salem.
When we got there, all sorts of military folks were there in front of the parking garage. We also saw all sorts of historical re-enactors as well.

“I’m surprised

“There he is,” my wife said, pointing.

Yep, there were the Zouaves with their 18 foot pikes.
“I’m glad we don’t have to do any historical reenacting today while standing around in the snow and the wind,” my wife said.
We went into the museum.

The Peabody Essex Museum has a special exhibit on a Dutch Masterworks collection

(That is a 2 1/2 story sign for it if that isn’t clear...)
The exhibit is VERY good. They have magnifying glasses and let you get pretty close to the paintings so you can really look at all of the details in there.
It is just the sort of thing I think

But, no photos.
I did buy the very large book on the exhibit. (Member’s discounts are great...)
After that special exhibit we did spend some time roaming the rest of the museum. I was surprised to find proof of flying saucers in the Japanese kimono clasp section.

Of course, since it is an art museum, I had to take photos of the benches.

My wife really liked this vase.

We hadn’t really planned to go on “India day”. But, we did.
They had special India based activities and tours.

“India TV” was there making live broadcasts.
It was the most people I’ve seen there at any one time.
So, when various traditional Indian dances broke out and a huge crowd gathered to watch it, we skipped out.

(Just in case there is any doubt, it is the crowd we wanted to avoid. Not the dancing.)
We drove from there up to Tom’s where he and Brett were having their purple house party.

We had not worn anything purple so had to sit in another room with other people who didn’t wear purple while Tom guarded us.

My wife made a brave escape attempt and got as far as the fire place room with her iPad before being discovered.

It was a nice enough time. But, between lack of sleep, a busy day and the fur from their cats, we headed home fairly early.
Still it was a good day.
