So, what happens in Arizona?

This evening we were watching a couple of movies on AMC about an illegal alien who comes to this country as a child, but grows up and becomes a champion of truth, justice and the American way.
So, it makes me wonder what would happen now if Kal El showed up in Arizona with their law about illegal immigration.
I mean, it doesn’t really matter how long he lived in Kansas, does it?
He’s taking American jobs in Metropolis and was born on Krypton.
He isn’t hard to spot in the red and blue.
Would the Arizona state police go after him?

They might ask, if they catch him after he committed some other crime. The law is not setup to just ask someone at breakfast in a diner if he is illegal.

it is my understanding that the police are only authorized to check identity of people whom they encounter as part of enforcing the 'normal' traffic and civil protection laws and investigating crimes. They CANNOT just go into a diner and start systematically going through everyone there for ID without a reason involved with the standard state motor vehicle and civil laws. The police cannot stop someone just for "appearing different" or else half the population of Phoenix would be arrested.

And, you are forgetting that Kal El was adopted by the Kent family, was raised as their son and used their family name, and likely had valid paperwork (at least a social security card, properly applied for even if they had to fudge a birth certificate) . Probably not any different than adopting a child from outside the country. So, he was more or less, "naturalized" through family adoption (and he didn't purposefully sneak into the country knowing it was illegal anyway). I think most mediocre attorneys could defend him in court.

I feel certain anyone dedicated to being a champion of truth, justice, and the American way, would follow the perfectly acceptable LEGAL method of immigrating and becoming a citizen... :-)
