I think the idea is the arrangement is to emulate the composition of the landscape painting, as well as represent the colors and highlights/shadows.
the middle of the arrangement, with the round seeds/grape-like area I think is supposed to have the feel of the center of the painting; the pinkish long leafed flowers sticking out of both sides I think are to emulate the rolling background/horizon and the color is to represent the color of the sky/clouds in the sunset.
The hanging/drooping light green leaves from the bottom of the arrangement I think is supposed to emulate the rolling hills off to the right side of the painting; the yellow flowers on the top are to emulate the tree tops being highlighted by the sunlight.
I'm glad you and Mal had a good time, despite the parking fiasco. It's always a gamble with the museum, as their capacity is very limited. I've almost missed entire classes in the evenings due to museum functions/events. I also always seem to hit the ramp of the Lancaster Street lot so it scrapes my car's underside. Ah well. Still a great museum
