Maybe a week in photos…

I know I’m not really in sync with the calendar as Sunday morning I got up, got dressed, grabbed my computer and got ready to go to work.
When I went to kiss my wife goodbye and tell her I’d see her that night, she reminded me that we needed to do three days of shows this weekend and I should not go to work Sunday.
I was sad as I could have slept later…

Last Monday our cousin Tom was up from Orlando and stopped in to see us. We had a nice visit with him before he drove off to his next adventure.

It’s been hot and humid, which is a problem as our air conditioning remains broken. The apartment complex brought us a portable unit, but it’s not the same.

I guess the air-conditioning unit that was here when we moved in 32 years ago is considered old and they think they have to replace it. So, I needed to empty the closet of our spare room. Found some stuff that’s been there for a while. Like the program from my father’s college graduation 89 years ago…

It was a three day weekend and we performed all three days.

The weather was hotter each day. Friday wasn’t too bad. By Sunday we were all quite warm.

We had a reoccurring problem with someone near our stage smoking so much pot that several of us had allergic reactions. Security tried to find them, but it happened 2 of the 3 days. Not sure about the last day. Maybe the squad of security people around our stage scared them off. Maybe they only packed a 2 day supply…

Our last show each day we put out the weapons and books and say folks can pick a weapon or a book for us to demo. No one has picked a book yet, even the folks who go far out of their way to explain to me how much they know about historical sword moves.

After our last show each day, Vince Conaway would set up his dulcimer next to us in the shade and play. He’s very good and knows a lot of the history of the instrument. It was the best part of the faire for me.

The second best part was some of my friends from college showed uptown to see our show. It’s been years since we last saw them and we had a nice visit.

Karen reminded me she also used to use a sword, but not this millennium.

Maybe my Sunday afternoon I was showing being tired…

Traffic wasn’t great getting home, but I was glad to be home, even if warm.
