Memorial for my friend’s mom

Monday was the memorial for my friend’s mother. He was very clear that it was a celebration of her life, not a grieving for her passing.
And, he did a good job keeping it that way.

My wife and I got there early to help set up. A lot of other folks did as well.

He didn’t want to keep any of her photos, so they were all put out on a table and folks could take the ones they wanted.
I was given the task of getting them out.

There were a lot of photos.

This one almost started a fight between several people as it is his mom, her siblings and their mother. A photo many wanted, but only 2 copies where there.

I solved this for them by taking a photo with my phone and texting it to any who wanted it…

A good number of folks showed up. All with stories to share about my friend’s mother and the good she did.

Although technically a pot luck, my friend also had the venue provide food and they did a good job with it.

After everyone had eaten their fill and taken food to go, he let the folks at the bar on the other side of the venue come and get their fill too.

The guy in the blue shirt danced at my friend’s wedding when he was the age of his daughter next to him. Time’s change.

My video of the service is an hour and twenty minutes long. So, I wouldn’t expect anyone would want to watch all that. But, I’m parking it here so I can go back and find it again if I need to without searching my YouTube archives…
