A tooth!
On Christmas Eve my dentist emailed me saying "your tooth is here, it’s all paid for, can you come in the 21st to get it?"
She quickly realized she had given a day 3 days in the past and sent another email saying "I meant 31st!"
Others I might let that go, but after all of this I take it as yet another example of her being sloppy.
I went in today and got it.
This time no removal of gum without warning. No extra drilling. No gluing cotton to my other teeth.
It does feel a bit weird, but I’m putting that down to having a temporary crown there for the last 278 days.
And, again to prove the sloppyness, she charged me $64 for something she told me was already paid for.
As I left she asked the question I knew she wanted to:
"Are you looking for a new dentist?"
"Yes," I said.
"Because of this tooth?"
"Because your latest appointment of the day is 3PM. The doctor you bought the practice from went to 7 and had weekend hours too. I’ve had to take a week of time off over this year for dental visits."
"We have late hours now too! And, Saturdays!"
"When I was here 3 weeks ago, you said that your last appointment of the day was 3PM."
"We’ve added late hours on Thursdays!"
"Thank you for letting me know."
"So, are you going to change dentists?"
"We’re at least going to look into it and see what else is available. We’ll let you know our decision."
"Your teeth need a cleaning and you have another cavity!"
"I will keep that in mind. Happy New Year. Goodbye."
Now, I really have no intention of going back. But, the new one we’re going to see next month is a total unknown. I don’t want to burn any bridges too badly.
But, I don’t want to go back to this one either…
