This week’s sword practice.

It was one of those cloudy days that always seem like it is going to rain, but never quite does.
But we dragged our sword bags down to Connecticut for practice anyhow.


This week John showed up. Last week he didn’t because he came to our home, not knowing we had resumed in CT. This week, it worked out.


He, Tom, my wife and I practiced before the others showed up.


But, eventually all were there.


CJ is mostly practicing for fire.


I’m working with her husband and sons for a fight for next March when we’re doing the show in Pensacola.

The idea is father and son both fight me.



My wife took a turn at suggesting how things could work better with three folks fighting at once.



We still have months to work it out.



I did notice my shoes got VERY dirty doing it. Not sure why.


Still not much color in the trees. Maybe it was too dark with the clouds for it to show up.


So far still no rain. Maybe tonight. We really need it so I hope we get some!

i would imagine with sword fighting that you move your feet as much as boxers do, constantly. its a dance. feet are always moving. when feet stop moving, you stop moving and you lose. thats what i was told by a guy who did boxing in high school. instead of fists clashing, you have swords clashing. similar, but different.

i enjoy seeing your sword fighting pictures and videos. thank you for always sharing those.

It is surprising how many parents let me take swords to their kids.
Not having kids I don't know if that is normal or not...

How you move your feet is important. It is also a great raging debate amoung historical reenactors as very few historical books give a good description.

It's nice to see the younger generation getting involved!

I tried fencing for a bit when I lived in Perth, loved it, but never found a group when I came back here. I still have my bits and pieces stashed at my parents' place though. One day!!

Wonder if I can work out a way to send you some rain. We are getting a bit flooded here!
