We are pretty careful that way. Tom and I have been doing that fight since 2003, so it is pretty rare for us to do anything major wrong.
But, many knuckles have been hit over the years.

The worst time we ever had with it was the time when we were doing a high block and the end of Tom's sword broke off and a chip hit me in the face.
But, I've cut myself worse shaving...

I'm guessing he'd had his weetabix that day if he was going about snapping swords?? o_O

It was a new sword of a different design.
We went back to using our old ones...

I'm guessing the metal was brittle?

Yes. And, thinner too.
That meant that it felt great and was very fast.
But, one wrong hit and the end snapped off.
We still have it. We brought the broken off end with us to the show for when people ask if they are real swords...
