Trip plans

So, if my wife and I take a trip, we’ve now got a rough target area.
It is still contingent on us getting our new passports, getting a few extra days off and actually deciding to do it.

But, we’ve decided what to do if we do go.

My wife loves rocks put on top of other rocks. The longer ago they were stacked the better.

My wife noticed that when I was in Wales for that sword class with [livejournal.com profile] cosmicirony last year, we saw a lot of rocks on top of each other.

I’m given to understand that in the general area of the British Isles there are lots of rocks piled on top of each other.
This is where he and I roamed around last year:

It wasn’t quite this clean as I didn’t trace the places we got lost.

Although, to be fair I’m not totally sure where we went to it is hard to trace.

We’re willing to drive around a fair bit. So, if anyone has suggestions for Wales or West England, let us know.

Cardiff .. Anglesey ... Beaumaris ... Caernarfon ...

Cornwall ... right down to Tintagel - though admittedly the stones are really piled on top of each other there anymore. Let me get a map of the UK and think about it some more, okay???

That sounds like an awesome trip. I happen to love stacked rocks as well.

While i am happy to take suggestions do not feel you have to do research for us. I don't mean to impose...

No worries!

Wales was phenomenal! But for rocks stacked on rocks I think Stonehenge is a must.

On the other hand, there is a lot of Wales that we didn't see, I'd suggest checking it out.

Stonehenge is certainly rocks on rocks.
But, we only saw 2 castles in Wales and there are at least that many dozen to see.
All made of rocks on rocks...

If you are interested in Cornwall as well you can follow my tag "England2009" for some pics etc which may give you an idea.

Snowdonia (center of wales) has lots of rocks on top of rocks - there are also all the additional rocks on top of rocks put there by people (and the preselis were the quarry of rocks that the special rocks from stone henge came from - http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/preseli-mountains/) and there are a few stone circles around too

Oh and Wales and Cornwall have special rocks on top of rocks called portal dolmens that are scattered around the place (and sooo many castles on the border between England and Wales - Goodrich is a lovely castle to visit and Raglan - I would guess you might have done chepstow last visit - fun cliff location it is)

And there's Hay-On-Wye the book town too - and with that I'll stop (based in Cardiff for a year and studied the area at various points hence the long list)

I don't know much about Wales or West England. But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some photos if you go :)
