GCRF day 2

When we got to the faire site Sunday morning the flags let us know that the
wind had not gone away.

But, as the day progressed, the wind got less and less. So, that was a
good thing. Even if the thermometer said about the same as the day before,
the fact it was sunny with less wind made it feel much better.

And, it is always warmer in the tent.

Normally there is a pastor who does a Shakespeare act that holds a Sunday
morning service before the faire gets started. He couldn’t make it to this
show, but we went ahead and met anyhow.

Jose and John both gave bible readings and it was nice. It’s good to step
back from the chaos of the show some and this was a good way to do it.

The first day of the show Saturday only had a handful of people. Sunday
wasn’t huge, but there were more.

We did get a much larger crowd for the 11 show with more fruit thrown.

There was still enough wind to require vampires for fire blockage.

And, add distance to the breath.

I’m not sure when or how, but apparently [livejournal.com profile] morgan_lafaye and
Jose managed to capture Santa Claus:

Maybe the googlie eyes spotted him in our tent?

All this did make me tired.

It seemed to have different effects on other people.

By the afternoon shows it felt warm enough that I didn’t need the cloak any
more, even if I retained the hat.

I love this photo from my wife and John doing their fight.

Many times in practice I showed him jumping over her sword. But, here it
looks like he is just hovering over it on his own power.

The final fire act was much nicer with less wind and more sun as well.

We used the “Jose the human wick” trick and burned off his back hair in the
shape of a heart. He facebooked a photo of it to his wife before the show
was done.

The swords went well, but there weren’t any good photos of them. But, it
was nice to do them right.

With that, the show was done.
No one was hurt.
The folks watching liked it.
We got paid.

In other words, a good show!

Then, it was time to pack it up and go.

This involved taking down the tent and getting it up on the roof of the
Subaru.

We finished packing as the sun went down. The sky was a very cool purple
color that I thought looked great.

Then, off to dinner at a barbeque place down the road.

Everyone seemed pretty happy with that choice.

One of the people who works at the faire came out with us. She said she
was working near the gate and the thing she heard the most folks talking
about was how fun the Phoenix Swords show was and how they let us through
fruit at the sword fighters.
So, I guess we made a good impression.
