Chicago and back
Friday night my wife and I headed to the airport just before sunset.

When they built this terminal they didn’t have farm markets in it.

We flew United out. Not bad. $5 and hour for internet, so I bought an hour on the plane.
Then, we got to the airport with the big dinosaurs in the terminal.

The hotel was right at the airport. And, I mean right there. This was the view out our window.

The other good news was there was a transit stop in the basement. So, in the morning we caught a ride into town. The train goes along the same highway that runs near our house, just a ways away.

It turns into a subway in the city.

You can transfer to the elevated, but we just walked.

I did ponder what an Amish chicken would be…

It was a nice day to be walking around.

Then, we went to the art museum. But, that will have it’s own entry…

Outside the museum there was a guy making music for the whole road.

He had staying power as he was still going when we came out 5 hours later.
After we came out of the museum we walked around a bit. There is a big park just south of the museum.

Not this monk, but another came up and asked for a contribution. I gave him $2.
"Donation is $20," he told me, showing a picture of himself in front of a temple.
"$2 or nothing," I said and walked off.

I don’t know who this is, but the seagulls like him.

They don’t seem to be good at math. "100 years" from 1927 to 2016? I count 89 there.

It was a nice park that went down to the shore of Lake Michigan.

But, I guess it has other things going on at other times.

Walking back we found a sign for a historic road.

I’m not sure about this sign.

My sister did not come to join us as I had hoped. This was in no way a surprise. But, I still looked.
We took the subway back to the hotel.

We relaxed at the hotel and went to bed early.

My wife said she thought this painting in the hotel room looks like someone giving the finger.

We got up early and got to the airport by 5AM.

Our plane was ready.

But, we had to wait for the sun to come up to leave.

We flew home American. Smaller seats. Much more expensive internet. ($6 for 1/2 hour instead of $5 for an hour. I didn’t get it.)

You could see the city as we took off.

Somewhere along that horizon is my sister.

But, we went east over the lake.

It was cloudy for most of the way home, but there were some breaks.

We flew over 3 of the 5 great lakes.

Coming in to Boston flew over Salem where we were a couple of weeks ago.

Then, back in Boston.

We got home and then went to storage to unload all the stuff from last weekend’s show.

Then, we came home and rested.

Sir Georg Solti was a famous conductor, he died some time in the late 90s, I think.

We got a good deal to Ireland like that a while ago. Round trip for 2 people for $400.
But, you had to fly weekdays in January to use it. We did that one as it is normally $900 each from the US.

Ugh, I sorta hate people who aren't satisfied with things that they are getting for free! Like omg, I do not have to give you this thing, stop asking me for more/feeling entitled to more!
