We are pretty careful that way. Tom and I have been doing that fight since 2003, so it is pretty rare for us to do anything major wrong. But, many knuckles have been hit over the years.
The worst time we ever had with it was the time when we were doing a high block and the end of Tom's sword broke off and a chip hit me in the face. But, I've cut myself worse shaving...
Yes. And, thinner too. That meant that it felt great and was very fast. But, one wrong hit and the end snapped off. We still have it. We brought the broken off end with us to the show for when people ask if they are real swords...
Actually we used to do Star Wars parties as one of the things we offered at shows. So, I have done pretty close to the same fight in a full Vader outfit. We don't do the "press the blade against other people's arms" or the "grab it by the blade and hit them with the hilt" part with light sabers. But, we use the same fight for fire swords and don't do it with those either...
